What we’ve come to love about WAHA

Everyone who has ever been to Wahanowin has something special they love about it. Whether it’s a moment or a memory, WAHA becomes part of you. Forever. It’s definitely part of us. We live the WAHA vibe every day and have the privilege of creating opportunities for so many kids to experience it.

So what do we love about WAHA? Everything. But that would be a really long blog post, so we’ve narrowed it down to some of the things that are so special to us.

    1. Watching campers go from activity to activity, arm in arm with their cabinmates and smiling from ear to ear simply because they are together in their favourite place doing awesome stuff.
    2. Witnessing the whole camp come together in their Friday night whites for Shabbat procession, one of Wahanowin’s most time honoured and beloved traditions.
    3. Ice cream cones for dessert at our weekly friends and family pizza lunch.
    4. Getting the chance (at the campers’ insistence!) to play in the WSBL or getting on stage to take part in the camper and staff talent show.
    5. Sunsets on Bunny Beach and taking a moment to reflect on how blessed we are that we get to spend our summers in this magical place with these incredible campers and staff.
    6. Nothing beats the energy and excitement of the July Air Bands competition, especially when the units arrive in their unit colours and the theatre erupts.
    7. 10, 9, 8…Flagpole is NOW. Let the stampede begin.
    8. Our staff and the little (and big) things they do to make campers feel cared for, seen and celebrated.
    9. Singing “This Place I Know”, at the top of our lungs, to end almost every meal.
    10. Singing the W song on the last night of camp, watching cabinmates cling to each other and wiping away tears and knowing that this exact moment in time, and every moment that led up to it, is why we do what do.
