Experience camp in Canada
There is nothing more Canadian than summer camp. Sunny days, cooling off in the lake, epic sunsets, campfires, close friends and amazing memories. The international staff position is typically a four to six-month contract. You’ll start in early May as part of our “spring staff” team that readies the site for the season. Then you’ll participate in our spring education programs with school groups, spend July and August as part of Wahanowin and stay through music camp and our fall education programs. It’s an amazing opportunity to have so many diverse experiences in one job and develop unbreakable bonds with other staff, especially the ones that spend four to six months at camp.
Why choose Wahanowin as your Canadian camp? You’ll have so many unique experiences, meet different people from all walks of life, connect with kids and give them a window into your world. You become part of the backbone of our staff team, have opportunities to explore the area on your days off (we are only 1.5 hours from Toronto) and truly immerse yourself in Canadian life.

Do I have to live in a cabin with campers?
If you are a counsellor, your role is to spend the summer building healthy relationships with your campers, act as a role model for them and facilitate positive experiences at camp. Living with campers in their cabins and being a consistent presence in their day-to-day life at camp is critical to building trust and making sure campers know they always have someone to rely on at any time during the day.
Most of our specialists live in cabins with campers, but there are some that live out in private or shared staff accommodations.
-
Can I have visitors at camp?
Outside visitors are not permitted at camp for either staff or campers, including on your day off, Visitors Day (unless you have a sibling that is a camper at camp), during free time or after camper bedtime. Visitors at camp disrupt the daily routine and can be distracting for staff and campers alike.
