Best of both worlds
This is the year you take the leap from being a camper to being staff. Summer is packed with so many opportunities – to learn and figure out where you can soar as staff AND to have THE best time with your friends, doing activities, special programs and amazing outings together. Excited about CIT year? Check out the photos, videos and camper stories here to see what it’s like.
Four placements make up the “training” part of CIT year. You have two cabin placements (in two different units), where you get to be with kids from wakeup to bedtime. You get to experience what it’s like to be a counsellor, build trust and bond with kids. You also have two specialty placements, where you get to work at an activity area and help kids from all units develop their skills and confidence. Your CIT Coordinators provide regular feedback throughout the summer and after your placements to help you develop and really step into your strengths.
CIT year isn’t all work. There is a ton of fun too. You live in CIT Village, together with all the CITS. “Day off” outings are amazing, especially the two-day white water rafting trip to the Ottawa River. And as a CIT, your staff privileges include staff snack and all staff recs.
