Mitch Freed

Position: LTP Unit Head

Education Status:
Mitch recently graduated from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario. In September he will begin working full-time as a management consultant at SECOR Consulting in downtown Toronto.

Previous Camp Experience:
This is Mitch’s fifteenth summer at Camp Wahanowin! He has returned to camp each summer since he was a chubby BB camper at the age of eight years old. Mitch spent his first two summers as a staff member on the ski docks. After two years of being a ski instructor, Mitch decided to spend the following two summers as a counsellor. Mitch is thrilled to be continuing the “LTP Cycle” as he has previously been an LTP camper, LTP counsellor and will be the LTP unit head for the second year in a row.
Favourite Camp Memory/Why did you choose Wahanowin?:
Fifteen amazing memories from fifteen amazing summers:

  1. BBs – Endless amounts of crying.
  2. Bears – More crying.
  3. Eagles – Voice cracking during the infamous solo “Go the Distance” as the title role in Hercules.
  4. Seniors – Getting rejected after asking out a girl for the first time.
  5. Grads – Learning how to play his first song on the guitar.
  6. PeeGees – Barefooting for the first time.
  7. Alumni – Clinching the first victory for the Green team in Alumni/LTP Colour War history at the “Academy Awards”.
  8. LTP – Watching Sammy Waxman (wearing water weenies and a coconut bra) swim in the mini swimming pool daily.
  9. CIT – Winning the “CIT of the Year Award” with current CIT Coordinator Eric Silverberg.
  10. Staff #1 – Watching Kevin “Ted” Jacobs slow dance with Molly Gareh at the Senior Luau.
  11. Staff #2 – Not having to relearn his lines and songs for the Staff Show of Les Miserables. Mitch repeated the role of Jean Valjean only four years after his original performance as an Alumni camper.
  12. Staff #3 – Being a counsellor for the first time.
  13. Staff #4 – Winning the “Most Valuable Staff Award” at staff banquet.
  14. LTP Unit Head #1 – Working closely with the incredible Head Staff team and Bruce, Pete and April.
  15. LTP Unit Head #2 - Stay tuned...
